Audition Applications for 2025 MJF Regional All-Star Middle School Combo are Now Open!

As part of our ongoing support for music education in schools, Monterey Jazz is excited to announce audition opportunities to join our remarkable Regional All-Star Middle School Combo. In the 2024-25 school year, students will have the benefit of working with some of the county’s best jazz educators.

Each all-star ensemble, featuring talented students from across Monterey County, rehearses twice monthly while working on ensemble skills including phrasing, blending, improvisation, and rhythmic feel. The ensembles perform across Monterey County and far beyond, testing their chops on the bandstand while bringing great jazz music to the community. The venues that have featured the Regional All-Star ensembles in the past include the Kennedy Center, the National Archives, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle, San Jose Jazz Fest, Jazz on Plazz in Los Gatos, Forest Theater in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Monterey Jazz Festival.

Our audition application process does NOT require any application fees! Applicants must complete the application form AND submit their audition videos to be considered.

The deadline for application and video submission: is 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
After completing the application form, you will be redirected to the audition criteria document which will provide detailed information on what to play in audition videos and how to submit your videos.

Application Eligibility:

• All-Star Middle School Combo: Middle School jazz musicians currently enrolled in a music ensemble at their school in Monterey County
