Trading Fours
Monterey Jazz Trading Fours is back! Trading Fours is a fun jazz ensemble class for intermediate to advanced level adult musicians. Led by jazz pianist Bill Spencer, Trading Fours will meet on selected Wednesdays from 7-9pm from April through October and will have a live performance as its final project. The class must meet a minimum enrollment of six students.

Tuition:
$175 per month. In addition, a non-refundable deposit of $150 is required at the time of registration. If you choose to pay monthly, your first month tuition + deposit should be $325. You will pay $87.50 for the final performance in November.

About Bill Spencer
Bill Spencer studied jazz and composition at North Texas State University and toiled in the busy studio and live music scene in Dallas before relocating to San Francisco where he quickly became in demand as a versatile musician and inspired keyboardist. He has played all over Northern California, backing singers Kenny Washington, Carla Helmbrecht, Tony Lindsay, Nic Beard, and many others, including Alex Ligertwood, Lenny White, Robert Guillaume, Eddie Fisher, Jack Jones, Will Donato, Rick Allen, and Lauren Monroe. Since relocating to Monterey, he’s been the pianist in a jazz trio at the Inn at Spanish Bay and has performed at nearly every venue where live music is featured on the peninsula, including the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Payment Policies:
Trading Fours tuition is $175 per month. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required at the time of registration. Once the registration form is completed and submitted, an invoice will be sent to you through PayPal. Payment options are available. Students can pay in full for the full eight-month class at the time of registration or decide to pay $175 monthly.
If you choose to make a monthly payment of $175, each $175 payment is due the 25th day of each month for the classes in the following month.
Your November tuition will be $87.50 to cover the costs of the final performance. For your April classes, please make a payment of $325 ($175 tuition and $150 non-refundable deposit) by March 25, 2025.
If you choose to pay in full, we will provide a $50 discount!
The payment of $1,412.50 ($1,262.50 tuition and $150 non-refundable deposit) must be completed by March 25, 2025.
After clicking the submit button, you will receive an invoice within 24 hours from PayPal for the deposit. Deposit for Trading Fours must be received within two days of receipt of invoice.
Refund and Withdrawal Policies:
Cancellations:
The class must meet minimum enrollment of six students. If MJF cancels the program because the class does not meet the minimum, MJF will refund the full paid tuition.
Withdrawals:
Upon receipt of a withdrawal request prior to the first class, MJF will determine your eligibility for refunds as follows:
> Withdrawal requests before March 20: Full tuition refund less $150 non-refundable deposit
> Withdrawal requests between March 20 and April 2: Full tuition refund less $150 non-refundable deposit + $75 cancellation fees
> Withdrawal requests on or after April 2: No refunds
Absences:
A make-up may be scheduled if the missed session is due to teacher absence or the facility’s conflicts. Missed classes due to student absence will not be made up.
