Monterey Jazz Festival Elects Mimi Hahn to its Board of Directors

Monterey, Calif.; July 1, 2015; Monterey Jazz Festival is pleased to announce that it has elected Mimi Hahn to its board of directors. Ms. Hahn is Vice President of Marketing for the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and oversees the Aquarium’s marketing, advertising, sales, online, public relations, graphic design, image resources, and special events departments.

I am thrilled that Mimi Hahn has agreed to join the board of directors of the Monterey Jazz Festival,” said Managing Director Colleen Bailey.  “The organization will benefit greatly from her professional expertise, her strategic mind and her passion for the nonprofit community.”

“I’m pleased to be invited to join such a well-established and respected organization. I look forward to contributing to the festival’s continued success and growth,” Hahn said.

A fifth-generation Californian, Ms. Hahn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication at Stanford University before joining the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s public relations team 27 years ago. For her first 18 years at the Aquarium, she oversaw broadcast media relations, working with television and radio outlets ranging from NPR, The Today Show and National Geographic to regional news organizations.

Hahn has also served the Monterey community as a board member of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, in addition to executive and marketing committee roles. She has additionally held leadership positions on the press and PR committee for the Travel Industry Association of America, and has been on the board of the Salinas Valley Half Marathon. Hahn is currently on the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) trends committee.

“I’m excited to have Mimi agree to serve on the board,” said Luis Alvarez, president of the Monterey Jazz Festival board of directors.
