Announce Weekly “Evenings by the Bay” Summer Concert Series, Saturday and Sunday Evenings,
June 29 – September 1, 2013

June 10, 2013; Monterey, CA; The Monterey Jazz Festival is proud to announce the sixth year of the “Evenings by the Bay” concert series, produced in collaboration with the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Taking place from June 29 September 1 on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Cannery Row in Monterey in the Marine Mammal Gallery, the 20-performance concert series features some of the Monterey Peninsula’s most talented professional jazz musicians. The “Evenings by the Bay” series provides a much needed outlet for live music, and enhanced value and entertainment for Aquarium visitors, already an internationally renowned destination for all ages. The concerts are included with regular admission to the Aquarium.

“Live jazz performed by these great bands creates a whole different experience for Evenings by the Bay,” said Mimi Hahn, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the aquarium. “It transforms the aquarium for our visitors and is a perfect fit for summer weekends.”

“Monterey Jazz Festival is excited and honored to partner with the Monterey Bay Aquarium once again to present its Summer Concert Series,” said Paul Contos, Education Director for the Festival. “These professional-level jazz performances showcase the superb musical artistry that resides here throughout the Monterey Bay.”

Since 2008, Evenings by the Bay has brought live music to the Monterey Bay Aquarium each summer, transforming an already exciting visit into something special for both visitors and performers. The 2013 concert series will feature saxophonists Paul Contos, Roger Eddy, Gary Meek, and Stu Reynolds; pianist Bill Spencer; bassist Pete Lips; vocalists Nicolas Bearde and Omega Rae; flutist Kenny Stahl; as well as the bands Que Caliente Latin Jazz, Along Came Betty, and the Monterey Bay Jazz Orchestra.

All concerts will take place on the first floor in the Marine Mammal Galleries section of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, located at 886 Cannery Row, Monterey, California, 93940.
