All Proceeds Benefit Monterey Jazz Festival’s Education Programs
Monterey, Calif.; October 7, 2015; Monterey Jazz Festival and the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa announce that the Grand Finale of “Wine, Dine and Jazz” events to benefit the Festival’s jazz education programs will take place on Thursday, October 22 from 6-9 p.m. at the TusCA Ristorante at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa, located at 1 Old Golf Course Road in Monterey.
Hosted by TusCA Ristorante chef Steve Johnson, “Wine, Dine and Jazz” features a strolling dinner, paired with Scheid Family Wines, Twisted Roots and Cima Collina Wines, and special jazz-inspired desserts created by Leigh Zimmerman and Domenick Allen of Monterey Meringues. Live music will be provided by Monterey Jazz Festival High School All-Stars and alumni, hand-selected jazz students from Monterey County schools.
The cost of the benefit “Wine, Dine and Jazz” is $55 per person. Tickets can be bought online at www.winedinejazzmonterey.com.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Festival’s local jazz education programs that affect over 1500 students from 26 Monterey County middle and high schools—including the Traveling Clinicians, Summer Jazz Camp, Instrument Bank and Sheet Music Library, and County All-Star Band programs.
The Traveling Clinicians Program, begun in 1984, is the core education initiative of Monterey Jazz Festival. With top professional musicians and vocalists working with schools throughout Monterey County for six monthly clinics during the school year to develop their jazz skills, the clinicians also recognize the County’s top players with a place in the Monterey Jazz Festival High School All-Star Band, High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the Middle School Honor Band.
The Traveling Clinicians Program is supported by AT&T, Sally Hughes Church Foundation, Community Foundation for Monterey County, William H. Donner Foundation, Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, Bill Graham Supporting Foundation, Harden Foundation, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Monterey Peninsula Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Nancy Buck Ransom Foundation, Rotary International, S.T.A.R. Foundation of Monterey County, and many individual donors.
