North Coast Brewing Company Reintroduces Brother Thelonious to Benefit Monterey Jazz Festival

Monterey, Calif., March 18, 2019; Monterey Jazz Festival and North Coast Brewing Company are excited to announce the reintroduction of the Belgian style abbey ale, Brother Thelonious, nationwide and internationally with a fresh new look and the same great taste. North Coast Brewing’s award-winning Brother Thelonious is widely loved due to its rich, complex flavor profile and its namesake, the legendary jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk.

North Coast Brewing has been the Official Brewery Partner of the Monterey Jazz Festival since 2006. A donation from the sale of every bottle and keg of Brother Thelonious goes to the jazz education programs of the Monterey Jazz Festival.

“Our long-standing partnership with the Monterey Jazz Festival has deep roots, and we couldn’t be more pleased to further our support of their remarkable year-round Jazz education programs,” says Doug Moody, North Coast Brewing Senior Vice President. “We created Brother Thelonious as an homage to the vibrant jazz community, so it is only fitting that a portion of its sales directly contribute to the education and celebration of young jazz musicians.”

Supporting the educational programs of Monterey Jazz Festival is as easy as clicking the beer locator to find Brother Thelonious on draft or in bottles. The label artwork gives a nod to the Belgian monks that popularized this style of ale, as well as paying tribute to jazz legend Thelonious Monk. One of the recently-unearthed albums by Monk includes Live at the 1964 Monterey Jazz Festival, released as one of a series of archival live performances on Monterey Jazz Festival Records.

The 62nd Annual Monterey Jazz Festival takes place September 27-29, 2019 in beautiful Monterey, California. Three-day ticket packages for the general public go on sale May 1, 2019 at www.montereyjazzfestival.org
