North Coast Brewing Company’s Brother Thelonious is Back at 62nd Monterey Jazz Festival

Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale Served All Festival Long in Support of Jazz Education

Fort Bragg, Calif.; September 10, 2019; Jazz fans attending the 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival later this month are in for a special treat from Official Brewery Partner, North Coast Brewing Company. World-renowned Belgian style abbey ale, Brother Thelonious, is back! Reintroduced earlier this year with a new look and the same award-winning taste, North Coast Brewing makes a donation from the sale of every bottle and keg of Brother Thelonious to the Monterey Jazz Festival’s year-round jazz education programs through its One Pint at a Time Initiative.

North Coast Brewing recently launched the One Pint at a Time Initiative to spotlight all of its sustainably-driven and philanthropic efforts, including its long-standing partnership with the Monterey Jazz Festival and support of jazz education. This year’s festival holds special meaning for the brewery as it commemorates its amplified commitment to jazz education with the One Pint at a Time Initiative.

Brother Thelonious was created as both an homage to jazz master, Thelonious Monk, and to showcase North Coast Brewing’s passion for Jazz as an artform. The California-based craft brewery selected the Monterey Jazz Festival’s year-round jazz education programs as the recipient of its donations from Brother Thelonious to aid in transforming thousands of young people’s lives through jazz music.

“Since our founding in 1988, jazz music has been a constant source of inspiration and passion for North Coast Brewing. We have a long history supporting jazz education efforts. In fact, the first donation we made to any nonprofit was to the Mendocino Coast Jazz Society,” says North Coast Brewing Senior Vice President and National Director of Sales, Doug Moody. “Our partnership with the Monterey Jazz Festival spans over 10 years and we were thrilled to deepen our commitment to their jazz education efforts this year. Brother Thelonious is the perfect libation to savor during the festival, and all year long, to make a positive impact on the future of jazz.”

In addition to the brewery’s contributions from Brother Thelonious and its role as the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Official Brewery Partner, North Coast Brewing sponsors the North Coast Brewing Company Jazz Education Stage. This stage provides jazz musicians and alumni from the Monterey Jazz Festival’s robust jazz education programs with an opportunity to perform on a professional-grade stage at the world’s most revered jazz festival following in the footsteps of their idols.

“We love working with North Coast Brewing Company and Doug Moody. They are all about jazz and are totally committed to nurturing its development through education. Just like the Monterey Jazz Festival. We make a great team and are an excellent fit for each other,” says Monterey Jazz Festival Artistic Director, Tim Jackson.

Festival goers looking for a little bottled bebop are in luck because Brother Thelonious will be served all weekend long. In addition, North Coast Brewing’s fan favorite beers, Scrimshaw pilsner style ale and North Coast Steller IPA, will be on tap to enjoy. Tickets to the 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival are still available and can be purchased at: https://www.montereyjazzfestival.org/tickets.
