Kevin Cartwright and Ken Gordon Elected as New Members of Monterey Jazz Festival’s Board of Directors

Monterey, Calif; January 9, 2018; Monterey Jazz Festival is pleased to announce that it has voted to add two new members to its board of directors: Ken Gordon and Kevin Cartwright.

Kevin Cartwright joins the Monterey Jazz Festival Board of Directors with broad experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in the performing arts and educating the next generation of artists and audience members. She has an undergraduate degree in biology and a master’s degree in urban planning, with professional experience in environmental analysis, corporate marketing, and community relations. Cartwright has served on the boards of the Carmel Bach Festival, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Youth Music Monterey, Chatham University, Community Foundation for Monterey County, California Historical Society, and the Big Sur Land Trust, among others. Her exposure to and enjoyment of jazz began at an early age and has been vastly enriched over the years by the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Ken Gordon was born and raised in Monterey, and has worked at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for 27 years as the Director of Security, and has managed and overseen several other support service departments of the hospital. Gordon has also been a board member of the Monterey Chamber of Commerce since 2014, and acted as the Chamber’s board chair in 2016 and 2017. Gordon is also a board member of the Monterey Academy of Oceanography and Sciences at Monterey High School.

Carsbia Anderson Elected President of MJF Board

Carsbia Anderson, a 17-year member of Monterey Jazz Festival’s Board of Directors, has been elected as its president. Anderson has previously served as the board’s vice president and has chaired MJF’s Education Committee for many years. He recently retired from his position as Vice President of Student Services at Monterey Peninsula College and continues to work as a consultant for community colleges throughout the state of California.
