Your support is vital in the future of Jazz. Even during this incredibly challenging year, the Monterey Jazz Festival continues to create meaningful jazz education experiences. More young people were reached than ever before with these programs – students who typically do not have access to music education because of lack of transportation or in-school music programs.
As we look toward the future, the Monterey Jazz Festival is committed to expanding the reach of its programs to serve more racially and socio-economically diverse communities of young people.

The Next Generation Women in Jazz Combo and the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra were unlike any honor bands that I have ever experienced. I can say that I had some of the best times in my life while playing with these ensembles. These fellow musicians made the Next Generation tour an experience of a lifetime. The fact that I was surrounded by musicians that were all at such a high level was unlike any other. I met and talked to people in the jazz industry and created relationships that never would have been possible if I had not been performing with the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.

Did You Know You Can Donate Your Piano to MJF as a Charitable Contribution? Donors will receive a tax acknowledgment letter from the Monterey Jazz Festival along with an appraisal from Mark Stevens Fine Pianos.
For questions or to make a donation, please contact Elizabeth Welden-Smith, Deputy Director at (831) 233-3711.
About Mark Stevens:
Mark Stevens is a pianist and native of Chicago. In 1975 at the age of twenty Mark wandered into The Grapevine, a Chicago piano bar, and it was there that his course in life was determined for him. Absolutely mesmerized by the club vibe and energy, he spent the next forty years playing in various night clubs and piano bars. Most recently, Mark was the house pianist at Affina Restaurant in Carmel. An accomplished singer, Mark wrote a stage show called Velvet Fog, The Life and Music of Mel Tormé, in which he assumes the person of Mel Tormé and recounts Mel's colorful life while singing many of his signature songs along the way. Upon moving to San Francisco in 2004, Mark took a job as a salesman for a piano dealership and is now the proprietor of the piano shop bearing his name in Pacific Grove. Mark also teaches piano to children and has a flourishing practice. As the name states, Mark Stevens Fine Pianos places only fine pianos on the showroom floor while offering them at the most competitive prices to be found in the entire state of California. Mark is proud to partner with Monterey Jazz Festival and serve as its agent for piano donations.
