Le Boeuf Brothers Perform at MJF Benefit at Poppy Hills Golf Course, November 7

Monterey, Calif, October 11, 2016; The Monterey Jazz Festival and MJF Ambassador Diane Mitchella will host a special fundraising event beginning at 6:30pm on November 7 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach. Music will be provided by the Le Boeuf Brothers, who are alumni of the Monterey Jazz Festival’s education programs. The Le Boeuf Brothers (pianist Pascal and saxophonist Remy) are from Santa Cruz, Calif. and frequently tour internationally. They have performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. Both Remy and Pascal were selected to MJF’s Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.

Their recent accolades include Independent Music Awards for Best Jazz Album and Best Eclectic Album in 2015; New Jazz Works Commissions from Chamber Music America (2011 and 2015); a Van Lier Fellowship in 2010; an Astral Grant from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts in 2008; first place in the International Songwriting Competition in 2010; and numerous honors from the ASCAP foundation.

Remy has performed as a sideman with GRAMMY Award-nominated and GRAMMY-winning saxophonists Donny McCaslin and Bob Mintzer. He has also received commissions from the Jerome Foundation and Chamber Music America. Pascal frequently tours with his trio featuring bassist Linda Oh and Justin Brown, and has played as support for D’Angelo’s Black Messiah tour. Remy was also selected to the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra in 2002-2004.

Pascal’s most recent accomplishments include a 2016 FROMM Commission from Harvard University; the 2015 ASCAP Foundation Johnny Mandel Prize; Independent Music Awards in Jazz, Eclectic and Electronica categories; and various commissions from Lincoln Center in collaboration with HAL. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Music Composition at Princeton University as a Naumburg Doctoral Fellow. Pascal was selected to the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra in 2004.

The Le Boeuf Bothers latest project, imaginist, will be released on October 14, 2016, and is a collaboration with the JACK Quartet, one of New York’s premier string ensembles, and includes a piece based on Franz Kafka’s short story, “A Dream” narrated by actor Paul Whitworth. Past projects include Remixed (2013); In Praise of Shadows (2011); and House Without a Door (2009).
