Monterey Jazz Festival High School All-Star Band and Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble Perform at 24th Annual Rotary Club Benefit, May 4, 2017

Monterey, Calif.; April 24, 2017; The Monterey Jazz Festival’s High School All-Star Band and Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble, with hand-picked musicians from Monterey County, will perform at the 24th Annual Rotary Concert at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Salinas on May 4, 2017, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets begin at $20 and up.

“The Monterey Jazz Festival has appreciated decades of support from the Corral de Tierra Rotary Club,” said Colleen Bailey, MJF Executive Director. “Because of the strong Rotary support of the work we do, Monterey Jazz Festival is able to ensure that students from across Monterey County have the opportunity to develop music skills through regular access to professional artists.”

Each year, Monterey Jazz Festival selects top students from across Monterey County for middle and high school big bands and honor vocal jazz ensemble. Led by MJF Education Director Paul Contos (High School All-Star Band) and renowned educator Dr. Rob Klevan (Honor Vocal Jazz and Middle School Band), each all-star ensemble represents a cross section of Monterey County private and public schools from Monterey, Salinas, Carmel, Pacific Grove, and others. Participating students in 2017 represent Carmel, Gonzales, Monterey, Notre Dame, Pacific Grove, Palma, Salinas, Stevenson, Trinity Christian, and York high schools.
