Monterey, Calif.; April 18, 2019; The Monterey Jazz Festival’s High School All-Star Band and Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble, with hand-picked student musicians from Monterey County, will perform at the 26th Annual Rotary Concert at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Salinas on Thursday, May 2 beginning at 5:30pm.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Corral de Tierra, tickets for the event begin at $20. Tickets can be purchased online at montereyjazzfestival.org.

Each year, Monterey Jazz Festival selects top students from across Monterey County for middle and high school big bands and an honor vocal jazz ensemble. Led by MJF Education Director Paul Contos (High School All-Star Band); renowned educator Dr. Rob Klevan (Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Middle School Band); and Mrs. Janice Perl (Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble), each all-star ensemble represents a cross section of Monterey County private and public schools on the Monterey Peninsula. Participating All-Star Ensemble members in 2019 represent Carmel, Monterey, Notre Dame, Pacific Grove, Stevenson, Trinity Christian, and York high schools. Monterey County Ensembles have previously toured across the region, the West Coast, and the United States, including performances at the Kennedy Center and Bohemian Caverns in Washington DC; the Vancouver and Victoria International jazz festivals in British Columbia; Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle; the Jazz in the Woods Festival in Overland Park, Kansas; the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Missouri; the Jazz Bistro in St. Louis; and many other festivals and events.
