June 10, 2011; Monterey, CA; Single Day Arena Tickets for the Monterey Jazz Festival go on sale Friday, June 17 at 9 a.m. PST.

Friday’s Single Day Arena Tickets are $66 and include three performances; Saturday or Sundays Single Day Arena Tickets are $132 and include five Arena performances.

Performing in the Arena on Friday, September 16 will be Hiromi: The Trio Project featuring Anthony Jackson & Simon Phillips; John Pizzarelli Quartet with special guests Jessica Molaskey & Bucky Pizzarelli and Poncho Sanchez & his Latin Jazz Band featuring Terence Blanchard.

Performing in the Arena on Saturday, September 17 is An Afternoon in Treme: The Musical Majesty of New Orleans — an all-star bill with Ivan Nevilles Dumpstaphunk, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, and Glen David Andrews, (hosted by actor Wendell Pierce of HBO’s Treme); Huey Lewis & The News; Geri Allen and Timeline presenting the 2011 Monterey Jazz Festival Commission, “The Dazzler,” a Jazz Tap Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr.; Joshua Redman with James Farm featuring Aaron Parks, Matt Penman & Eric Harland; and NEA Jazz Master, Herbie Hancock.

Performing in the Arena on Sunday, September 18 is the Open Door project, featuring India.Arie & Idan Raichel; the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra (featuring appearances by alumni Joshua Redman, Benny Green and Donny McCaslin); the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts; the Still Ahead Orchestra (directed by Vince Mendoza and featuring Terence Blanchard, Peter Erskine & Miles Evans) performing selections from the classic music of Miles Davis and Gil Evans Miles Ahead, Porgy & Bess, and Sketches of Spain; and NEA Jazz Master Sonny Rollins.

Single Day Arena Tickets also gain admission to all 7 Grounds Stages and activities, which include 13 shows and activities on Friday, and over 30 shows and activities each day on Saturday and Sunday.

Single Day Arena Tickets may be purchased on the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Web site, www.montereyjazzfestival.org. On sale now are Arena Package Tickets, offering a reserved seat to all 13 concerts on the Arena/Jimmy Lyons Stage (renewable annually), and access to 7 Grounds Stages and all Festival activities for the whole weekend. Full Weekend Grounds Tickets starting at $125; and Daily Grounds Tickets for as low as $40.
