As part of the Monterey Jazz Festival’s year-round jazz education programs to enhance the musical training and experience of the most gifted young musicians in the County, the Monterey County High School All-Star Band and Honor Vocal Jazz Ensemble offer 32 selected Monterey County high school students the opportunity to study and perform at an advanced level to enhance their respective school music programs. Participating students are selected by the professional jazz musicians and educators in the Festival’s Traveling Clinician Program, and perform at various community and service organization events throughout the year. Past musical tours have included performances at jazz festivals and other venues throughout Japan, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Each September, the All-Star Band and Vocal Ensemble are featured in a final performance on stage at the Night Club during the annual Monterey Jazz Festival.
