WHAT: Please join the renowned Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and Yamaha artist Terri Lyne Carrington as they rehearse for their main stage performance on September 18. You will have an opportunity to interview these talented young students in order to gain a perspective of how jazz has enriched their lives. Terri Lyne Carrington will discuss her longtime relationship with Yamaha and the commitment Yamaha has to music education.
WHO: Yamaha artist, Terri Lyne Carrington and the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra will be rehearsing and conducting interviews. Dave Jewell of Yamaha and Artistic Director Tim Jackson of MJF will also be on hand to discuss the impact Yamaha has had over the 40-year relationship, on the concertgoers, musicians and jazz students.
Terri Lyne Carrington is a three-time Grammy winner for jazz drumming and composing. This year the Yamaha artist is the Artist-in-Residence for the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Next Generation Jazz Orchestra is brought together by the festival every year and is comprised of 21 of the most talented high school jazz musicians from across the country.
